need a little help and tips on drawing a comic book

Post by coffeejunkie on Tue 6 Mar - 13:29

Hi everyone, its been a while , been busy and a weee bit ill. I need a little bit of advice and some pointers on how to set out, draw and organise a comic book. I have been asked by film director who has produced a sc fi / comedy series, and is in the process of producing a second series, to come up with a comic book to suport the series. I have got the notes as a guide to what the story will be, but I have never drawn a series of cartoons only one offs. So how do you go about designing a cast of people that are easy to repeat time after time. And what sizes do I need to set things out on ? Is there any software out there that can help ? Thanks.

i am doing a strip for a client presently and the image kinda comes when I start drawing, so in terms of plan there is none.

There are books on how to create and design comic stories and storyboards , not too expensive from Amazon.

Re getting characters to look the same. Keep it simple and become very familiar with the features and face shape then it's easy to repeat. I have three characters in my strip and I can draw them all without using any reference as the proportions are fixed in my head.

Just go for it and see how you get on Smile

Great project btw! Well done Smile
